Reviews and the things to consider when judging a business based on reviews…

Updated: Feb 26

So I know what your thinking... coming from someone with both negative and positive reviews I'm bias and making an excuse for the bad customer experiences that have lead to some bad reviews on our services. But what truly grants a bad customer experience? Why is it easier for one business to be written off as opposed to the other ? Why are people taking personal feelings and emotions into account instead of the actual facts or contracts that they agreed to? Why would someone put so much effort into bashing another's business when ultimately they made a bad decision that voided a contract s policy and are trying to justify. Why is my past unrelated to my business entirely even being used against me ? Maybe because I let it get to me ... or maybe because it's the easy way out. Maybe it's a difference in core values but I feel it necessary to share my take. I think reviews become a little more personal these days. And I'll stick to my opinion and right to one until the day I die.

I want to start off by saying that my mobile bartending and beverage services are what brings me the majority of my joy. It has always been my sole intention to share that joy and experience with each client we book & work with! I like to be praised like love it ( who doesn't ?) because I was a regular screw up most of my life. Attention before placing judgement I am not warranting any excuses like I am fully aware that I made bad choices. So now when I am putting in my efforts into a positive experience for my family to have better, for my clients to have a great positive customer service experience, & for myself because I want better in life.

I want nothing more than a positive experience I never half ass anything or go into anything with that intent but I am human and even though I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing everyday. I am learning something new and I am enjoying it. Business isn't for everyone but it's for me your entitled to your opinion people but trust me when I've booked clients like LVMH X AMAZON and worked the bid up from 8k to 50k ( I under bid still 🤦🏻‍♀️ ) trust me I'm meant to be in business. LVMH is a whole story in itself in due time I'll share. Here's my point is that I'm

Confident in my sales ability and I'm learning how to operate a business and be successful who is anyone to tell me to give up on my dream? That said I must draw the line at being the doormat business or smallest guy on totem poll. I'm getting hit hard with reviews that just don't seem fair not only fair some of these people are just lying lying because they know I react ? Who knows it seems like a bunch of wasted energy to me. It's a lot of things & there are a lot of point of views to be taken into consideration. It comes down to your core beliefs of do you believe in second chances ? Do you believe that some are easily more targeted than others ? Do you believe money overrules anything else ? That money means you can treat people less than ? Are you conservative and feel like your in business because you know what your doing I mean that opinion in itself is so ancient these days but it's here and ready to smack you in the face ! Is it that money overrules what's wrong and right ?

Let's give some examples that relate to our reviews would you like an explanation on why you should book with us and not judge off these vindictive opinions rather than actual facts of how we operate our business. Like the clients that bombarded our bar services ... remeber a business we are a business not just a couple of bartenders!!! We're at a wedding as a vendor; we're providing bartending and beverage services as a vendor at their wedding . This is the actual facts of how the event went. Within an hour of our services beginning The guests stole our coolers filled with beer and wine and back up ice, the guests self served themselves because they couldn't wait in line and continuously attempted to self serve alcohol that was physically behind the bar. Literally had guests coming behind the bar and helping themselves to booze until I would tell them they couldn't do so. Side note I fully know why now the trailer is a thing. IT PROTECTS YOU FROM THESE ANIMALS OF PEOPLE SOMETIMES LIKE WHO DOES THAT?! But we were somehow in the wrong ? Absolute chaos and uncivilized people who amongst the everyday world of professionalism would never in a million years cop to acting in such way. Speaking of cops actual police officers in uniform so proudly representing their occupation and honor to protect and serve us as citizens but he also disrespects my business breaks a ton of laws but it's okay because he's a cop ? Another example : how about another event we worked last season well we intended to work. We ended up having to make one of the hardest decisions as business owners and walk off the event before our services began. What about them ? These clients decided to make an additional request for a second bar station the week of the wedding. Week of the wedding they also refused to communicate with me as the owner. They sent their planner to do the dirty work who told me to not reach out to clients per their request. When I informed the planner that an additional bar would call for additional fees and that I needed to speak to the clients. Immediately and I mean she immediately became agitated and all of a sudden I was allowed to communicate with my clients. My clients then refused to pay the additional fees requested for this additional bar they wanted and started to literally haggle with me calling out numbers like we're at an auction. Listen I'm sure it's stressful paying for a wedding I have a heart have you seen our pricing ? It's beyond fair in fact I'm not married because I can't actually afford to get married so I emphasize with these client's I consider a wedding a big investment and commitment to begin your lifetime of working together as a couple to succeed. But we are a business your essentially asking me to take a loss on your account when I am a business owner and have a life as valuable as yours. So what did they do ? They refused to pay for the second bar said no big deal they will handle it. They then hired a completely different company to do the cocktail hour bar services. This immediately voids our contract and insurance because of liability reasoning it would be impossible to keep track of actual consumption. We take our business seriously even if we're the party and will not bend the rules for anyone. Not only that the other service providers were serving underage guests. We tried to bring this to the wedding planners attention while the clients our clients were in the middle of their ceremony talk about a pressing situation. The planner the venue owners they all turned a blind eye when we approached them about the situation at hand. BIG RED FLAG THEIR so much so that I'm weary of that now so this ultimately was a lesson for me as a business owner. No schooling could've prepared me for this. The severity of this situation at hand and the little time we had to make the right call. Remeber not just for the couple although they are the most important people of that day unfortunately when your now placing our business in a position to lose literally everything over a few hundred dollars? Like literally over wanting to be right on what you thought and not what actually was. I mean to this day I just don't get it. I don't comprehend how people operate and I will never mark my words never give up on my dream. People will push you to give up. "Awe she just wants to be lazy and be with her kid and not work hard" "she just wanted a free ride" like it's the complete opposite of how I feel the opposite of what my heart operates. So even if I'm a softy sometimes , even if I second guess myself , even if some days I want to give up. I won't. The industry is made for me and I'm made for the industry. The majority of my clients are beyond pleased. Some well they've known from day one transparency and all what part or stage my business is at and they've been nothing and I mean nothing but supportive. I want to grow I want to do better I want to fulfill my customers expectations above and beyond & I make mistakes, I make big mistakes, as I experience the different trails and tribulations of running a business I learn what to avoid, what to expect, what to do in a rare occurrence. I've certainly allowed my emotions to get the best of me last season. NEVER AGAIN ( at least that's my new motto ) I'm not falling for the guilt of using my past against me or making me feel pressured because you have more than me or are more established in your opinion. I said it before and I'll say it again I deserve the same opportunities as anyone else and no one is going to make me feel less than. You can be bullied I'm experiencing this and I won't give up. What's the purpose of this blog post you ask ? Don't judge a book by the cover or do more research in fact ask me about it.

I now respect business owners from all walks of life with good reviews or bad I personally won't judge until I experience myself. I just want to at least make it clear that I can't believe I have to face the consequences of these peoples emotions. I encourage everyone to judge a business by their own personal experiences. I'm

Going to continue to do what I do best and serve my customers and their expectations with customer service excellence. It's going to be a great season! Maybe I shouldn't say anything but that's not who I am! We look forward to serving each and every client we work with. I look forward to learning more about you. I enjoy to make this a personalized service based on your picturesque bartending and beverage dreams and at a fair price point. I will stand on that until you prove it wrong. Thank god with a last name like mcweeney that I've got thick skin. Owning a business isn't for the weak. Here's to a better season!
